Daniele Labbate, AKA Daniel Monaco has a proclivity for a deep Italo rhythm and New Wave dance music eras. With his latest output, an eight track full-length LP on Slow Motion Music, Monaco explores the Italo and New Wave feel with a tropical and cosmic sensibility. The result, ‘Summer Twilight’, is aptly named. With the warmth and buoyancy of Summer jaunts the record captures the sensation of gloaming well, the sun is certainly past the yardarm and the evening is about to take a heavier turn.
In Somalia Monaco blends these flavours into a hard-driving and intensely percussively layered four-minute romper stomper, which, in spite of all of its gusto, never seems to stretch itself too thin.
